We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer 2 to join a drivetrain component engineering team supporting the design and development of mechanical components used across heavy machinery. This position will focus on axle housing design, 3D modeling, technical drawing interpretation, mechanical design, and engineering analysis.
The engineer will work closely with senior engineers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and internal process partners to develop reliable, manufacturable mechanical components.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop axle housing and drivetrain components for heavy machinery applications.
- Create and modify 3D mechanical models using Creo based on engineering requirements.
- Read, interpret, and work with engineering drawings, technical prints, blueprints, and specifications.
- Perform concept modeling and support the development of mechanical component designs.
- Conduct or support stress and life analysis to evaluate component performance and durability.
- Assess mechanical designs for strength, functionality, durability, and manufacturability.
- Investigate component issues and nonconformances, identify potential risks, and support corrective actions.
- Apply GD&T and geometric tolerancing principles during design and drawing reviews.
- Support the design and development of steel and iron cast components.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on assigned engineering projects and design activities.
- Work with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and internal engineering groups to resolve design and production-related issues.
- Support APQP and product development activities as needed.
- Prepare engineering documentation, calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
- Manage assigned engineering tasks and deliverables while meeting project deadlines.
- Communicate technical information effectively with cross-functional teams and incorporate feedback into design solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- 2–4 years of relevant professional engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Creo 3D modeling.
- Experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering prints, and blueprints.
- Working knowledge of GD&T / geometric tolerancing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and other internal partners.
Salary : $60,000 - $64,000
