What are the responsibilities and job description for the Third Shift or Weekend CNC Operator position at L&S Machine Company?
Bonus for two machines! This full-time position is responsible for operating and maintaining a CNC machine and producing parts to safety and quality standards. Employee will work under the direction of a Manufacturing Supervisor. Shifts only available for weekdays third shift or first shift weekends. Optional overtime available.
Essential Job Functions
- Ability to perform basic CNC machine operations working from drawings and customer specifications.
- Ability to communicate in English, understand and follow oral and written English instructions.
- Ability to read and understand basic CNC programs.
- Ability to perform quality checks using basic measurement and testing equipment including micrometers and pin gages.
- Willingness to work in a team-based environment and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Works in accordance with and ensures compliance with all applicable quality systems and regulations.
- Assists Manufacturing Supervisors and Programmer in CNC set-up and tool changes.
- Efficiently and independently operates and maintains one or more CNC machines.
- Processes necessary CNC machine adjustments, including offsets.
- Safely loads and unloads fixtures, parts, tooling, or materials into CNC machines.
- Properly and legibly documents completed work, tool changes, and nonconformances as required by applicable quality systems and regulation.
- Cleans and deburrs parts as conditions permit utilizing machine tools, power tools, or hand tools.
- Performs routine maintenance such as chip removal, monitoring and refreshing coolant, cleaning machines, worktables, and surrounding areas.
- Performs quality checks on parts as required.
- Maintains and returns all equipment such as tooling, jigs, fixtures and gages to proper storage areas.
- Adheres to L&S Machine’s workplace cleanliness standards.
- Embraces and participates in L&S Machine’s Safety Culture by conforming and following all safety rules, production, and quality directives.
- Reports any incidents that have occurred in a timely fashion and participates in investigations, as required (i.e. safety, spills, accidents, outages, productivity/workflow).
- Makes suggestions, demonstrates a questioning attitude and is supportive and open minded to new and existing ideas/initiatives.
- Seeks assistance from Manufacturing Supervisors when unsure of procedure or when errors occur.
- Works cohesively and communicates clearly and respectfully with all L&S employees, contractors, or interns.
- Performs other duties and assignments, as deemed necessary, to support L&S Machine’s business and operational needs.
