What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lighting/Electrical Technician position at L&S Enterprises, LLC?
L&S Enterprises, LLC is a state-certified electrical contracting firm specializing in designing and implementing energy-efficient lighting and lighting control systems. Service territory includes Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and the Carolinas.
Our Lighting/Electrical Technicians perform energy-efficient lighting upgrades for our federal, municipal and educational partners. Job duties will vary, but could include:
- Pull wire, make up joints, and terminate connections.
- Load and unload material/equipment.
- Retrofit existing lighting fixtures, install LED light bar kits, replace fluorescent LED lamps, and change socket bars and sockets.
- Install reflectors, install door kits, and replace pin or screw-in lamps.
- Replace lamps and ballast with LED products in commercial and industrial facilities.
- Install lighting control devices such as occupancy switch sensors, room occupancy sensors, and power packs where instructed.
- Safe operation of hand and power tools.
- Keep and maintain an organized and clean material storage container/work environment.
- Work mainly from ladders, but also from scaffolding and aerial lift platforms where required.
- Separate and package recyclable materials after removal, and maintain a clean work environment by gathering and disposing of trash such as cardboard packaging, foam, plastic wrap, wire stripping, etc.
The position will require work to be performed on elevated platforms including ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts, and/or other mechanized equipment.
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
The typical work week is Monday - Thursday, 10-hour shifts. Shift times may vary depending on project - must be okay with both second and third shifts.
The preferred candidate will have electrical-related experience and previous physical labor experience. Technical skills and training that are needed to succeed in this role will be provided through on-the-job training.
Candidate must be okay with weekly, overnight travel.
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
A valid driver's license is required.
OSHA-10 Certification is preferred.
NFPA-70E Certification is preferred.
Aerial Platform Certification is preferred.
Forklift/Telehandler Certification
JLA Badge is preferred. All individuals hired into this role must undergo a background check and meet Level 2 screening requirements pursuant to Florida State Statute 1012.32 prior to starting.
Candidate must:
- Be able to safely operate company vehicles and equipment, adhering to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company procedures.
- Be proactive and self-driven, capable of taking initiative and working independently to achieve goals.
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Be able to maintain flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, readily adjusting priorities in response to unforeseen circumstances or shifting project requirements.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to work shifts that are 8 or more hours per day
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform work in the field, in all weather conditions, throughout the service territory.
- Ability to move/lift objects that range from 50-100 pounds or more regularly.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must be able to wear personal protective (PPE) gear.
