Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, the Director of Business Development plays a vital role in advancing our mission to serve our members by building strong, lasting relationships within the communities we support. This role is responsible for executing strategies that expand membership, increase engagement, and ensure current and potential members have access to the financial solutions they need to thrive. With a deep commitment to member service, the Director leads initiatives that connect individuals, businesses, and community organizations with the Credit Union’s full range of products and services. Through proactive outreach, relationship-building, and team leadership, this role ensures that every interaction reflects our dedication to putting members first.
This individual is a passionate advocate for the Credit Union’s values, focused on identifying new opportunities to meet the evolving needs of our diverse membership. The Director ensures that growth efforts are always rooted in service to our members and their financial well-being.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
1. Develop and Execute Growth Strategies
• Collaborate with the VP of Business Development to implement and manage strategies that drive new membership, deepen existing relationships, and expand into new market segments.
• Identify and pursue partnership opportunities with local businesses, community organizations, and institutions to increase the Credit Union’s visibility and value proposition.
2. Relationship Management & Community Engagement
• Act as a key liaison between the Credit Union and external partners including chambers of commerce, community leaders, realtors, home builders, etc.
• Represent the Credit Union at community events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to enhance brand awareness and community trust.
3. Strategic Execution & Innovation
• Execute strategic initiatives to promote product adoption, loan growth, and member engagement through targeted outreach efforts.
• Leverage market data, trends, and member feedback to inform and adapt outreach strategies that meet community and member needs.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Marketing, Retail, and Lending teams to coordinate promotional campaigns and support new product or service rollouts.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of products that address the evolving financial needs of members.
5. Reporting & Analysis
• Track and analyze outreach effectiveness, business growth performance, and market opportunities.
• Deliver reports and recommendations to the VP of Business Development that support continuous improvement and strategic alignment.
Qualifications and Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field or comparable experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive business development or relationship management experience in a financial services, credit union, or banking environment preferred.
• Proven success in building and managing business relationships that resulted in measurable growth and value.
• Strong community involvement and established local business and organizational network preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactical initiatives that drive results.
• Strong understanding of credit union products, services, and member needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
