Cashier - Greenhouse/Garden Center

Job Title Description: Looking for a dependable, friendly cashier to join our team at our busy retail greenhouse and garden center. This role involves manually handling transactions using a basic cash register, without a digital point-of-sale system. The ideal candidate is comfortable memorizing prices, has excellent mental math skills, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, outdoor-oriented environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

· Greet customers warmly and assist them during checkout

· Memorize prices of plants, garden supplies, soil, pots, and seasonal items

· Calculate totals, taxes, and change using a basic cash register

· Accurately count and handle cash, checks, and credit card payments

· Answer product and pricing questions using knowledge of store inventory

· Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming checkout area

· Assist with stocking the retail greenhouse

Essential Skills

· Strong mental math skills and price memorization ability

· Comfortable working without a digital POS or barcode scanner

· Friendly and approachable, with good customer service instincts

· Physically able to work on your feet in a greenhouse or outdoor setting

· Reliable and punctual with attention to detail

· Prior experience in retail, cashiering, or horticulture is a plus

· Willingness to learn about plants, products, and seasonal pricing

· Ability to accommodate a variable schedule depending on management needs and season.

· Communicate effectively and regularly with management and fellow employees.

Applicants must be able to:

· Be on your feet for 8 hours each day.

· Lift, carry and move 30 pounds.

· Work in greenhouse environment with varying temperatures, dirt, dust and other possible allergens.
