Position Summary
The Plant Supervisor oversees daily operations in the pallet manufacturing facility, ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and labor efficiency are met. This role leads production personnel, coordinates workflow, monitors equipment performance, and promotes continuous improvement in plant operations.
Key Responsibilities Production Management
- Supervise daily pallet production activities to meet output goals.
- Load and Unload trailers
- Coordinate workflow, staffing, and production priorities.
- Monitor production rates and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Ensure materials are available and production lines remain operational.
- Reduce downtime and address production bottlenecks.
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and supervise plant employees.
- Schedule labor to meet production demands.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary action when necessary.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Assist in hiring and onboarding new employees.
Quality Control
- Ensure pallets meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor product consistency and inspect finished goods.
- Address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Minimize waste and rework.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety policies.
- Conduct safety meetings and training.
- Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure proper use of equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Monitor machinery and equipment performance.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs.
- Report equipment failures promptly.
- Support preventive maintenance efforts to reduce breakdowns.
Inventory & Materials
- Monitor lumber, nails, and other material usage.
- Help manage raw material inventory levels.
- Reduce waste and improve material yields.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track production metrics, labor efficiency, downtime, and quality performance.
- Prepare daily/weekly production reports.
- Recommend and implement process improvements.
- Support lean manufacturing and cost-reduction initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
- 3–5 years of manufacturing or pallet industry experience preferred.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of pallet assembly processes, saw operations, and repair operations preferred.
- Understanding of safety regulations and production best practices.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills for production tracking and reporting.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Ability to tolerate dust, noise, heat, and outdoor conditions when applicable.
