CDL A OTR Driver
LJ Zucca is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable delivery driver to support the logistics and transportation of products to our valued customers.
Objectives of this role
• Provide excellent customer service and build customer loyalty by delivering products in a timely, cordial manner
• Ensure orders are delivered accurately and in good condition
• Communicate any issues or delays and resolve problems efficiently
• Represent the company with excellence and professionalism by driving safely, exercising good judgment, and treating customers with respect
Responsibilities
• Transport and deliver freight over the road over long distances in a safe, efficient, timely and legal manner.
• Manage time appropriately to complete routed deliveries and pick-ups on schedule.
• Hook and unhook trailers; secure freight.
• Load and unload trailers and perform lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying freight.
• Deliver orders within an optimal period, and respect for customer preferences
• Safely operate a vehicle in all types of weather conditions
• Navigate streets and highways efficiently using GPS
• Communicate clearly with customers and demonstrate an eagerness to work through any issues or points of confusion at the point of delivery
• Verify orders before each delivery and maintain a detailed, comprehensive delivery log
• Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain records required under state and federal laws and regulations and navigate ELD system app to meet DOT mandate for commercial trucking.
• Ensure that all operations follow state and federal laws and regulations.
Required skills and qualifications
• One-year previous tractor/trailer driving experience (unless applying as a Student Driver)
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Knowledge of all applicable DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Meet all standards (medical, safety, etc.) required by the DOT and pass required drug/alcohol test and fit test.
• Able to be away from home for extended periods of time with varying schedule and days off, available for round-the-clock trips and able to remain alert while driving for periods of up to 11 hours during a 14-hour shift
• Ability to lift and carry heavy food orders and operate a vehicle for prolonged periods of time
• Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal communication and conflict resolution
• Able to squat, crouch and reach as needed to handle freight, able to enter and exit the vehicle’s cab numerous times each day, able to operate liftgate and/or ramp system to load and unload freight.
• Able to push and pull freight at a self-selected height with a force of 150 pounds.
• Able to operate both manual and automatic transmissions
• Able to carry or move freight weighing up to 70 pounds continuously throughout delivery process.
Preferred skills and qualifications
• Previous delivery or customer service experience in any industry
• Proven track record of succeeding in time-sensitive situations
• Experience in handling cash and giving change
• Knowledge of all applicable DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Meet all standards (medical, safety, etc.) required by the DOT and pass required drug/alcohol test and fit test.
