Position Summary
The Lead HVAC Mechanic is responsible for leading residential HVAC installation projects from start to finish. This position oversees the installation crew, ensures installations meet manufacturer specifications and local code requirements, maintains a clean and safe job site, and delivers outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities
- Lead residential HVAC replacement and new construction installations
- Install furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, air handlers, mini-split systems, and ductwork
- Read blueprints, plans, and installation drawings
- Ensure all work complies with local codes and manufacturer specifications
- Train and mentor apprentice and junior installers
- Complete quality control inspections before leaving each job
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, and office staff
- Document work using ServiceTitan
- Complete startup and system testing
- Verify airflow, refrigerant charge, electrical operation, and system performance
- Protect customer property and maintain a professional appearance
- Safely operate company vehicles and maintain tools and equipment
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of residential HVAC installation experience
- Previous experience leading an installation crew preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and installation skills
- EPA Universal Certification required
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and work in attics, crawlspaces, and on ladders
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage daily installation schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- NATE Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Experience with ServiceTitan
- Experience installing inverter and communicating HVAC systems
- Sheet metal fabrication experience
