TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Position Summary

The Training & Development Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and continuously improving multiple development programs under Lexicon University that support employee growth, leadership capability, skilled-trades readiness, and operational excellence across the organization. This role oversees program execution from needs analysis and curriculum design through facilitation, stakeholder coordination, measurement, and continuous improvement. The manager will partner with business leaders to align learning solutions with workforce needs, support scalable development pathways, and manage team members responsible for delivering a consistent, high-quality learner experience.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple Lexicon University development programs, including leadership development, skilled trades, apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship pathways, onboarding and early-career development, safety learning, technical skills, and professional development initiatives.
• Partner with leaders across divisions to assess workforce capability needs and translate them into structured development plans, curriculum maps, learning paths, and program rollout strategies.
• Facilitate and support in-person, virtual, and blended learning experiences that build leadership capability, technical confidence, operational readiness, and knowledge transfer across a distributed workforce.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve training materials, facilitator guides, participant resources, assessments, program calendars, and e-learning content that support consistent delivery and measurable learning outcomes.
• Track and evaluate program effectiveness using participant feedback, leader input, assessments, completion data, performance indicators, and business-impact measures to guide continuous improvement.
• Manage and coach direct reports or assigned team members responsible for training coordination, facilitation, curriculum support, learner communication, and program administration.
• Maintain relationships with vendors, certification partners, subject matter experts, and internal stakeholders to support high-quality learning solutions and external credentialing needs.
• Support workforce development programs such as internships, early-career pipelines, pre-hire readiness programs, and employee transition pathways that strengthen Lexicon’s talent pipeline.
• Support grant writing, grant administration, reporting, and compliance activities related to workforce development, apprenticeship, leadership development, safety training, and other Lexicon University programs.
• Manage training logistics, LMS or learning technology administration, scheduling, communications, resources, and reporting as needed to ensure effective program delivery.
• Stay current with learning trends, leadership development practices, safety and skilled-trades training needs, and technology-enabled learning solutions; integrate relevant improvements into Lexicon University programs.
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in training and development, preferably in the construction industry, heavy manufacturing, skilled trades, workforce development, or a related operational environment.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience managing people, including coaching, performance management, delegation, workload planning, and supporting employee development.
• Experience facilitating training sessions and managing multiple development programs from planning through execution, measurement, and continuous improvement.
• Experience with grant writing, grant management, reporting, or administration for workforce development, apprenticeship, training, or education-related programs is preferred.
• DDI certification is preferred.
• Certifications in training and development, instructional design, leadership development, coaching, facilitation, or related areas are preferred.
• Ability to work within the U.S. without company sponsorship, now and in the future.
• Spoken and written fluency in English is a must; Spanish fluency is a strong asset but not required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for our company without the need for current or future visa sponsorship. Note: The company does not provide employment visa sponsorship.

Physical Demands

Must be able to work in a high-pressure working environment with multiple stakeholders and deadlines. Some overtime, weekend work and overnight travel is required. Willingness and ability to meet trainees where they work, which includes production facilities and construction sites. Must be able to sit for long periods of time working directly on a computer. Must be ethical, energetic, and have a passion for delivering solutions.
