Job Description:
Who we're looking for:
- We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to join our Equipment Planning Group supporting paint department operations.
- This role involves approximately 80% office-based and 20% shop-floor activity, and requires hands-on involvement in equipment specifications development, project management, and manufacturing-focused requirements (for example, materials handling).
- The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing experience, practical knowledge of robotics and maintenance, and the ability to execute and inspect equipment and systems on site.
- Responsibilities include supporting conveyor and paint-line projects, planning equipment, creating and reviewing technical and inspection documentation , participating in on-site inspections, and performing quality checks
- Automotive OEM's Production Engineering Paint Department i s looking for a passionate and highly motivated Planning Senior Engineer
- The primary responsibility of this role is to evaluate and plan automation robots and expansion projects including process and layout design, equipment specification, standardization across the plants and lead time reduction.
- Reporting to the Equipment Planning Group Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Paint department's objective to plan equipment for new vehicle projects, refurbishment and equipment life cycle management for the North American plants.
What you'll be doing :
- Support evaluation of equipment project proposals, including process and equipment capability assessments
- Develop strategies and lead implementation for North American equipment deployment and standardization projects.
- Create presentations and reports to communicate project status and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Become an expert in multiple paint shop technologies and systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve goals
- Develop standards and RJs for the new technologies and improve gentani for equipment specifications, including CoHE compliance and cross NAM standardization
- Develop standards and improve specifications for equipment, ensuring CoHE compliance and cross-NAM standardization
- Lead specifications, and development processes
What you bring:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent experience in a Automotive OEM engineering or technical role
- Experience with CAD or similar modeling software
- Experience with spec development
- Experience creating A3 and/or Ringi documents for equipment procurement
- Ability to identify project constraints and develop effective countermeasures
- 2 years of project management experience
- PLC experience and knowledge – Nice to have
What you may bring
- Bilingual: English/Spanish/Japanese – Nice to have
- Conveyor experience and knowledge
- MSRC and or Machine Risk Analysis Experience
- Experience with new model introduction processes
- Experience with paint shop booths, ovens, abatement systems, air houses, and enclosures
- Experience in equipment maintenance
- Experience in automation and/or robot programming
- Experience with vision system evaluation, programming, a nd use cases
