The Barback at KYU supports bartenders by ensuring the bar is fully stocked, clean, and organized, allowing for a smooth and efficient beverage service. The Barback is responsible for managing inventory, assisting with drink preparation, and maintaining a clean and orderly bar area. Barbacks at KYU play a crucial role in the bar’s operations, working closely with bartenders and other staff to deliver exceptional service and uphold the restaurant’s high standards.

After applying, candidates are welcome to attend an in-person open call at KYU Restaurant on Thursday, the 29th, between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

Please apply in advance before arriving. Interviews will be conducted on-site during the scheduled time window.

Responsibilities: 

• Assisting bartenders with drink preparation and service during peak hours.
• Managing and maintaining bar inventory, including restocking supplies and organizing storage areas.
• Ensuring the bar area is clean, organized, and in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Handling glassware, utensils, and other bar equipment, and ensuring they are clean and in good condition.
• Removing empty bottles, glasses, and trash from the bar area promptly.
• Assisting in setting up and breaking down the bar for service.
• Monitoring inventory levels and reporting needs to the Bar Manager.
• Collaborating with bartenders and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Providing support in training new bar staff as needed.
• Maintaining a positive and proactive attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Skills and Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role or in a high-volume bar environment.
• Basic knowledge of bar operations and equipment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in fine dining or upscale bar settings preferred.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
• Motivated and self-directed with a willingness to learn and grow.
• Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Aspects of the Barback Role:
