Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using tools like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to support accurate patient assessments
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation within EMR (Electronic Medical Record) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral health support
- Maintain infection control protocols using aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care and wound management
- Document patient information accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
- Assist with transfers and positioning using appropriate equipment to prevent injury and promote comfort
- Support emergency response efforts in acute or trauma situations, including ICU or Level I Trauma Center environments
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in settings such as pediatric units (PICU), geriatrics, hospice care, or behavioral health units
Experience
Candidates should possess prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings. Experience with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks is highly valued. A background in critical care areas—including ICU, emergency medicine, or Level II trauma centers—is preferred. Additional experience with specialized populations such as pediatrics (PICU), developmental disabilities, or behavioral health enhances your candidacy. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; familiarity with phlebotomy procedures and medication administration is a plus. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, infection control practices, and patient service skills. A commitment to ongoing learning in geriatrics, dementia care, hospice services, or acute/post-acute care environments will set you apart as a top candidate.
