Kyocera Unimerco Tooling, Inc. manufactures, distributes, and services tools for machining, primarily for the metal, automotive, aerospace, and fluid power industries. We are a leading manufacturer of both solid carbide and PCD tipped cutting tools. Due to high order demand, we currently are expanding our purchasing department at our Saline, MI production facility.
The Purchaser supports operational excellence by ensuring supply continuity, data accuracy, and strong supplier coordination—contributing directly to the success of Kyocera-Unimerco in the U.S. market.
General Overview:
The Purchaser manages day-to-day purchasing activities to ensure supply chain efficiency, optimized inventory levels, and on-time product availability. This role is operational purchasing across assigned product categories, including raw materials, consumables, cutting tools, and specialty products. Working closely with Sales, Warehouse, and suppliers, the Purchaser plays a key role in maintaining product flow, cost control, and service levels. Responsibilities include:
· Manage purchase planning and replenishment within assigned categories.
· Optimize inventory levels to balance availability and working capital.
· Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely deliveries.
· Conduct day-to-day supplier negotiations and manage pricing.
· Coordinate special tool quotations based on Sales input.
· Respond to stock and delivery inquiries from internal stakeholders.
· Manage supplier claims and resolve discrepancies.
· Maintain accurate ERP master data, pricing, and item records.
Desired profile:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Minimum 2 years of purchasing or supply chain experience (manufacturing or industrial environment preferred).
· ERP system experience required.
· Strong Excel skills.
· Experience working with international suppliers is a plus.
