Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting across Kylix’s vineyard and winery portfolio. This role blends technical accounting expertise with a collaborative, business-partner mindset — providing financial insights that help align vineyard operations, sustainability practices, and business performance. This position requires versatility and the ability to operate at multiple levels — from preparing journal entries and reconciliations to supporting budgeting, forecasting, and strategic projects. While much of the work is on-site to collaborate closely with vineyard and winery operations, the position offers flexibility for remote work on certain days or outside of peak harvest periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Oversee winery cost accounting, including inputs, labor, and harvest allocations.
- Track and report inventory across bulk wine and packaged goods.
- Support month-end close across multiple entities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for multi-region operations.
- Partner with operations leadership to align financial outcomes with farming and winemaking goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and accounting procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA track preferred.
- 3 years of progressive accounting experience; wine industry or agricultural background highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting.
- ERP/accounting system proficiency (QuickBooks or vineyard/winery-specific platforms).
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Demonstrated application of advanced technologies (LLMs, AI, Machine Learning, etc.) to improve processes and increase efficiencies.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to also work independently.
