Job Description:
The Electronics & Hardware Department Associate is responsible for processing, testing, pricing, stocking, and maintaining the store's electronics, tools, hardware, and related merchandise. This role helps ensure that donated items are safe, functional, clean, and attractively displayed while providing excellent customer service and supporting overall store operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and sort donated electronics, tools, hardware, and miscellaneous household equipment.
- Test electronics and electrical items for basic functionality and safety before they are placed on the sales floor.
- Clean, price, label, and merchandise products according to store pricing guidelines.
- Organize and maintain attractive, well-stocked displays for electronics, hardware, and related departments.
- Identify valuable, collectible, or specialty items for management review.
- Remove damaged, unsafe, or unsellable merchandise in accordance with store policies.
- Assist customers by answering questions, demonstrating basic product functions, and helping locate merchandise.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling of electrical equipment and tools.
- Monitor inventory levels and rotate merchandise to maximize sales.
- Assist with donation intake, stocking, and other store duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of consumer electronics, hand tools, power tools, and hardware products.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and functionality testing on donated items.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous retail, thrift store, or electronics experience is preferred but not required.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with common electronics such as TVs, stereos, gaming systems, computers, small appliances, and power tools.
- Ability to recognize higher-value brands and specialty equipment.
- Basic understanding of electrical safety and safe equipment handling.
- Experience using pricing guides or retail inventory systems is a plus.
Pay: $15.00 per hour
