What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Project Manager position at Kyle Conti Construction?
KCC is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex heavy civil and environmental infrastructure projects from award through close-out. Our work includes transportation, marine and port facilities, rail and transit, environmental remediation, utilities, dams and flood control, and large-scale site/civil projects across public and private sectors.
This role is for professionals who have real project ownership experience in heavy civil construction—managing scope, schedule, cost, contracts, and field execution. It is not a coordination role.
Candidates without direct heavy civil project management experience will not be considered.
Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for full execution of assigned projects, ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements. This role requires strong coordination with field operations and the ability to manage both technical and financial aspects of complex infrastructure work.
Core Responsibilities
Lead heavy civil and environmental projects from preconstruction through final close-out with full accountability for performance and results
Develop, maintain, and actively manage project schedules, working closely with Superintendents to align sequencing, manpower, equipment, and subcontractors with the critical path
Control project financials including cost coding, quantity tracking, forecasting, WIP reporting, change management, and margin protection
Manage owner and subcontractor contracts, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, notices, and documentation required to protect the company and manage risk
Maintain consistent coordination with field teams to monitor productivity, safety, quality, and compliance with plans and specifications
Act as the primary point of contact with owners, engineers, inspectors, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and timely issue resolution
Lead and coordinate Project Engineers, Assistant PMs, Superintendents, and subcontractors with clear expectations and accountability
Drive project close-out including punch lists, testing and commissioning, as-builts, O&M manuals, and final billing
Required Experience (Must Meet)
Minimum 10 years of experience as a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager on heavy civil infrastructure projects
Experience managing projects involving major scopes such as earthwork, utilities, structural concrete, transportation infrastructure, marine work, or environmental remediation
Proven ability to manage project schedules and control costs on multi-scope, high-value civil projects with both self-perform and subcontracted work
Experience working on public-sector or infrastructure projects with strict documentation and compliance requirements
Strong working relationship with Superintendents and field leadership on planning, means and methods, sequencing, and productivity
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining control of project performance
Clear and professional communication with internal teams, clients, and regulatory stakeholders
Applicant Guidance
This position is for experienced heavy civil project managers who are capable of leading complex infrastructure projects and taking full ownership of results.
Candidates whose background is primarily residential construction, tenant fit-out, small commercial work, or unrelated industries are not aligned with this role and are discouraged from applying.
