Purpose of Position/Summary:
The Accounting Assistant Manager is responsible for supervising/managing the accounting function and staff accountants for the OEM and AM business’ which include: Plant Accountants, General Accountants, Accounts Payable Specialists, and Accounts Receivable Specialists. This also includes essential duties and responsibilities as detailed in the section below. The Accounting Supervisor is a function of the Accounting Department and reports to the Controller. The Accounting Supervisor is an essential role in managing the company’s financial position, as well as related accounting functions and duties necessary for the Accounting department to function as a whole.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Assist with month end close procedures, including reviewing journal entries created by other accountants, reconciliations and occasionally posting of journal entries;
• Frequent communication with Controller and frequent analysis provided to Controller;
• Review monthly financial statements vs. prior month, prior year, forecast and plan prior to the Controller review;
• Assist in putting together the quarterly reporting packages due to Japan on the 7th business day following month end;
• Responsible for ensuring that all financial statements, entries and reconciliations are complete by the 7th business day following month end;
• Actively manage the team of other accountants including establishing/monitoring goals, continually teaching/training, discussing best practices and how to become more efficient and effective;
• Understand the ERP systems and be able to run reports or assist others with issues on reports;
• Communicate frequently with other departments and provide timely responses to requests;
• Actively participate in monthly meetings with management/executives to discuss the results of the month;
• Act as the main point of contact for our external auditors when it comes to detailed questions or requests;
• Assist with tax related transactions as needed (federal, state, local);
• Assist in budget preparation for certain line item expenses as directed by Controller or the Planning Department;
• Discuss frequently with operations team regarding inventory including obsolete and slow moving inventory to determine appropriate level of reserves;
• Prepare financial analysis and trend reports as needed including detailed monthly tracking of certain expense items, trend reporting, and departmental expenditure analysis;
• Understand banking entries; as requested, download all banking activities;
• Assist in preparation of data for financial reporting package and external audit;
• Participate in semi-annual physical inventory counts as needed, including weekends;
• Adhere to GAAP and IFRS;
• Adhere to KAC internal controls and J-SOX;
• Other duties assigned by Controller on an as needed basis.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting is required from an accredited institution. Active CPA license is preferred. Five years of full-cycle Accounting experience. Curiosity, good organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, conflict management, and learning skills required. Difficulty of Work:
The Accounting Assistant Manager is expected to exert independence and judgment in his/her day to day activities and expected to identify and report issues that may arise which have an effect on KAC’s ability to report timely and accurate financial reports/information.
The Accounting Assistant Manager will be required to oversee/manage company assets and liabilities and is responsible for understanding all aspects of the business. The Accounting Assistant Manager will be expected to identify and report misappropriations or misallocations to management immediately.
The Accounting Assistant Manager must be able to effectively communicate with other departments, as well as communicate with customers and vendors, and exert a high level of customer service. It is essential to overcome any potential barriers to communication and continue to pursue complete resolution.
The Accounting Assistant Manager may be challenged by issues with the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and will need to be proactive and independent in finding solutions. In addition, the Accounting Assistant Manager will be expected to proactively pursue efficiencies, improve transparency, and timely report in all functions of the job.

Functions of the position overseen and performed by the Accounting Assistant Manager are subject to review and testing by the Controller and Internal Audit. Testing and review will include tests of accuracy and assessment of the Accounting Assistant Manager’s adherence to internal controls (J-SOX compliance), GAAP, and IFRS.
The Accounting Assistant Manager is expected to possess the knowledge and experience necessary to successfully perform the functions expected of the role. Although performance is scheduled to be assessed and reviewed annually, additional assessments will be performed if deemed necessary.
Physical Effort:
The position requires extensive work on computers, which requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for an office and / or production environment. Special attention to work environment and areas surrounding the equipment is critical.
