Charge Nurse (RN)-Mental/Behavioral -Pediatrics Nights

Position Summary:

• Supervises and coordinates patient care activities on assigned shift . Directs licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel; participates in staff development and evaluation of staff on assigned shift. Assists in direct patient care. Represents management and administration in their absence . Monitors various aspects of program safety and oversees crisis response when needed.

Pay:

• $36.50-$42.50/hr
  • Plus weekend differential

Education:

• Associate degree in nursin g required . BSN, preferred

Experience:

• At least 2 years of prior experience or training in psychiatric nursing or ANCC certification in psychiatric nursing required

Preferred Experience/Skills:

• More than two years of experience supervising registered nurses providing psychiatric patient care.
• Experience utilizing electronic medical administration records and health records .
• Greater than 1 year of medical surgical nursing experience

Certification/Licensure:

• At least 21 years old
• Valid Drivers License
• Valid Auto Insurance
• Licensed as a Registered nurse in the state of Kansas.
• ANCC Certification for Psychiatric Nursing preferred.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities :

• Plans, organizes and directs licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel assuring adequate staff-patient ratios
• Coordinates services with providers, patients, families, ancillary departments, medical staff, and other providers
• Maintains responsibility, authority and accountability for program activities while on shift
• Supports program philosophies and decisions
• Keeps management informed of activities and events while on shift
• Provides input on employee performance appraisals, orientation and education
• Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation and communication of pertinent information to appropriate persons while maintaining patient confidentiality
• Provides all aspects of patient care in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces risk
• Develops and maintains professional and clinical skills
• Participates in program meetings and committees as required
• Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
