Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of deli foods, including slicing meats and cheeses, making sandwiches, and packaging ready-to-eat items with precision and care
- Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS to process sales efficiently while providing excellent customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the deli area by regularly cleaning counters, utensils, and food preparation surfaces in compliance with food safety regulations
- Assist customers with product selection, answer questions about ingredients or dietary needs, and upsell items to enhance their shopping experience
- Manage cash handling responsibilities accurately, including cash register operations and balancing cash drawers at shift end
- Restock shelves with fresh products, monitor inventory levels, and communicate shortages or reorder needs promptly
- Support food safety practices by following proper food handling procedures and sanitation protocols at all times
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, food service, or retail environments such as grocery stores or quick service restaurants
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting while multitasking between tasks seamlessly
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation procedures
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and inventory management
- Culinary experience or restaurant background preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential
