Kurt Manufacturing is seeking a Remelt Operator to join our Die Cast Division in Fridley, MN. This position is responsible for managing the remelting process of scrap metal and maintaining the proper metal temperatures in the remelt and holding furnaces. By managing the remelt process, this position ensures the continuous supply of molten metal to the plant and the efficient recycling of scrap metal.
Shift: 1st Shift: 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday
Compensation:
The anticipated starting pay rate for this position is $19.50 to $25.50. The exact salary may be based on a combination of factors including the knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.
Essential Functions
Manages the remelt furnaces to keep metal at the right temperature
Loads remelt furnaces with scrap metal and ingots to ensure a steady supply of molten metal to the plant
Uses fluxing compound to bring impurities to the surface of molten metal; skims slag from the surface
May transfer molten metal from furnace to bull ladle; pours metal retainer of die-casting machine
May drive forklift to move, stack, or unload metal
Tracks (counts/weighs) and documents the material moved or handled
Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent GED
1 month of experience working as a remelt operator or in a related role
Ability to work in high-temperature environments for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Ability to obtain forklift certification
Preferred
3 months of experience working as a remelt operator in a related role
