Role Description We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team in the greater Indianapolis area. This is a full-time, on-site role involving the analysis and design of new, rehabilitated, and repaired structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation of historic bridges
- Prepare engineering calculations, load determinations, and member sizing in accordance with applicable codes and standards
- Develop and review construction drawings and details using CAD tools
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams
- Respond to contractor questions and provide construction-phase support
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project documentation
- Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design intent
- Support project planning, execution, and scheduling
- Contribute to quality control and continuous improvement of design processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; advanced degree is a plus
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with intent to obtain PE licensure
- Strong foundation in structural engineering principles applicable to bridge projects. Experience with steel and timber trusses is a plus
- Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for preparing and reviewing structural drawings and details
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, AASHTO)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in an on-site environment
- Experience with permitting applications and/or hydraulics is beneficial
