The Role
As an Instructional Assistant, you serve as the "eyes and ears" of the classroom. You will support students in mastering the Kumon Method while carefully observing their habits. A critical part of this role involves documenting student performance to ensure the Lead Instructor can make informed decisions about each child’s lesson plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Observation & Documentation: Provide detailed, concise written notes to the instructor regarding student progress, focus levels, and areas of struggle.
- Instructional Support: Guide students to adhere to Kumon procedures and encourage self-learning habits.
- Assessment & Prep: Accurately grade and prepare student classwork and homework.
- Feedback: Deliver immediate, encouraging feedback to students during their session.
- Customer Service: Exemplify strong service to provide an excellent experience for students and parents during arrival and departure.
- Center Operations: Maintain a clean, professional workspace and keep your designated area organized to ensure an efficient environment for learning.
Basic Qualifications
- Academic Proficiency: Strong proficiency in high school Math and/or English.
- Observational Skills: Ability to monitor student behavior and translate those observations into helpful written feedback for the Instructor.
- Professionalism: Honest, with a commitment to regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
