Job Summary

The Nighttime Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing workplace safety, health, and security programs within a manufacturing environment. This role provides leadership and oversight to ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, company safety policies, and industry best practices. The EHS Supervisor works closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to implement safety programs, conduct audits, investigate incidents, and promote a proactive safety culture. This position plays a key role in risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on workplace safety regulations, compliance standards, and risk management, including applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with safety programs such as lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, machine guarding, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, hazard communication, chemical safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and workplace observations to identify hazards, improve compliance, and reduce operational risk.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans to address safety gaps and improve safety performance metrics.

  • Lead and maintain safety management programs within the assigned department or shift to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to company safety policies.

  • Respond to workplace incidents and emergency situations, coordinate response activities, and ensure incident reports and investigations are completed accurately and on time.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and collaborate with department leadership to implement preventive actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Deliver safety training and awareness programs to employees, supervisors, and managers to build a knowledgeable and safety-focused workforce.

  • Monitor compliance with required safety training schedules and partner with Human Resources to ensure training standards are maintained.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance technicians, engineers, supervisors, and managers to promote a strong safety culture.

  • Coordinate with plant security teams to enforce company security policies related to employee badging, contractor access, and asset protection.

  • Maintain safety records, analyze safety data trends, and prepare reports related to incident rates, safety audits, and regulatory compliance.

  • Serve as an on-call safety contact for emergencies and provide leadership support during off-hours incidents when required.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support environmental health and safety objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • 3–5 years of experience in environmental health and safety (EHS), industrial safety, or occupational safety within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Experience working with OSHA regulations, safety compliance programs, and incident investigation processes.

  • Experience implementing safety programs, conducting safety audits, and analyzing safety performance data.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence employees and leadership to follow safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations, OSHA compliance standards, and incident investigation processes.

  • Familiarity with safety programs such as Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) programs.

  • Experience delivering safety training and promoting a safety-first culture.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to lead safety initiatives and drive cultural change in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and meet critical deadlines.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of facility security procedures and emergency response coordination.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office and plant-floor work with occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.

  • Frequent walking, standing, and climbing stairs within a manufacturing facility.

  • Ability to conduct facility inspections, audits, and investigations, which may include climbing ladders or working at heights during emergency situations.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor manufacturing environments with potential exposure to industrial equipment, moving machinery, and hazardous materials.

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, or protective clothing may be required.
