Responsibilities
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately to process retail sales transactions swiftly and efficiently
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
- Conduct product demos when appropriate to highlight features and benefits to customers
- Upsell additional items or services to enhance the customer’s shopping experience and increase sales
- Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring products are presentable
- Handle cash, credit card payments, and perform cash handling duties with precision and integrity
- Support inventory management through stocking, inventory counts, and reporting discrepancies as needed
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone or taking orders
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems and cashiering procedures in a retail environment
- Supervising experience is a plus for leadership opportunities within the team
- Strong communication skills, including bilingual abilities to serve diverse customer bases effectively
- Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for cash handling and retail math calculations
- Knowledge of grocery store or retail sales transactions, merchandising, and stocking procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Experience in retail sales techniques such as upselling and product demonstrations
- Familiarity with phone etiquette for professional communication with customers
- Previous grocery store or retail experience is highly desirable for understanding store operations
