Are you a recent culinary school graduate or an aspiring baker looking to turn your passion for cakes into a professional career? Kukje Bakery is seeking a motivated, entry-level cake decorator. You will work directly under the close supervision and mentorship of our talented Head Pastry Chef, learning advanced techniques in baking, building, and decorating. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a solid foundation in professional cake production.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in baking high-quality cake layers following established bakery recipes.
- Prepare frostings, fillings, glazes, and curds from scratch.
- Level, torte, fill, and crumb-coat cakes with precision.
- Support the Pastry Chef with base frosting and introductory decoration tasks.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation.
- Manage inventory by rotating ingredients using the FIFO method.
- Follow all food safety and health department guidelines strictly.
Qualifications & Skills
- Basic knowledge of baking principles and cake assembly.
- Recent graduation from a culinary/pastry arts program is highly preferred, but not required.
- Ability to follow precise recipes and measurements.
- Strong desire to learn, take constructive feedback, and improve skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
