What are the responsibilities and job description for the Application Engineer - Mobile Robotics position at KUKA?
Summary
Designs, modifies, develops and implements engineered solutions for mobile robot/automation systems utilizing KUKA robots and/or product packages. Provides advanced technical support and engineering expertise to internal and external customers in the functional areas of design, development, modification and integration of KUKA mobile robotic automation technologies within the North American region.
Note: Heavy travel is associated with this role. On average 75% across the U.S. Only local talent in Michigan will be considered, this is an onsite role when not traveling.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Creates and implements customized solutions (GUI, Application software, Software & Hardware Interface, etc.) in order to meet customers’ process and product requirements.
- Modifies existing hardware/software solutions to accommodate variability with peripheral devices.
- Provides technical direction on assigned project(s) for defined duration.
- Performs in-house, on-site and/or remote support of KUKA mobile products on an as-needed basis relative to product/project requirements.
- Provides support in creation of quotes, budgets, timing, demonstrations and related services (training, engineering support, on-site support, etc.)
- Responsible for completing assigned tasks within defined timelines.
- Ensures engineering compliance with all customers and/or other pertaining specifications.
- Ensures company awareness to specifications.
- Writes Application Notes containing product specific problem and solution information.
- Domestic travels to customers sites as well as moderate travels within the North American region and occasional intercontinental travels of varying length required.
- Promotes teamwork and cooperative effort.
- Adheres to Safety requirements and maintains a clean, safe, and unobstructed work area, practice good safety habits, and utilizes appropriate safety equipment.
- Provides customers with the highest quality of products and services.
- Understands and applies appropriate quality and safety improvement processes. Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continual improvement.
Supervisory Responsibility
No direct reports. Periodically responsible for leading small teams (2 – 4 individuals) as required for successful project completion. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; assessing/reporting performance to applicable manager.
Educations and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.E.E./B.S.C./B.S.M.E.) from four-year college or university and four years of related robotic automation experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
