- Learning About Rates: Interns explore how rates are formulated, focusing on fixed, floating, and premium rates, as well as global versus regional pricing. This knowledge is key to providing competitive quotes.
- Understanding Ocean Carrier Agreements: Interns are introduced to agreements between carriers and shippers, including their structure and compliance with Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) regulations.
- Role of the FMC: Interns will understand the FMC's regulatory role in maritime operations.
- Understanding Contracts: Interns learn the significance of contracts, compliance, and the consequences of non-compliance, including penalties or service disruptions.
- Desire to gain skills in communication, contract management, regulatory compliance, and industry-specific knowledge.
- Interest in Corporate Trade Team Function, understanding how it works with suppliers and local branches to execute global strategies and ensure operational efficiency.
- Ability to develop communication skills through interactions with internal and external stakeholders, enhancing the ability to negotiate and collaborate.
- Ability to develop and understanding of legal agreements with carriers and suppliers.
- Basic Microsoft Excel Skills for data analysis and reporting.
