Human Resources Generalist
Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist serves as the primary HR partner for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), providing day-to-day HR support to leaders and teammates while ensuring alignment with organizational policies, procedures, and strategic people initiatives. This role acts as the face of Human Resources within the assigned centers, partnering closely with facility leadership to support employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, onboarding, engagement, compliance, and leave administration.
The HR Generalist serves as a trusted advisor to managers and teammates, helping foster a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws. This position reports directly to the Head of Human Resources and collaborates with operational and clinical leadership across all assigned facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
HR Business Partnership
- Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned ASC leaders and teammates.
- Build strong relationships with facility leadership teams and provide guidance on people-related matters.
- Partner with leaders to identify workforce needs and develop proactive solutions.
- Support organizational initiatives, change management efforts, and culture-building activities.
Employee Relations
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers regarding employee performance, conduct, attendance, and workplace concerns.
- Conduct employee relations investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions.
- Partner with leadership and the Head of HR to address complex employee relations issues.
- Assist with corrective action documentation and performance improvement plans.
- Promote a positive employee experience through timely and professional support.
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding
- Support recruiting activities for assigned facilities, including candidate screening, interview coordination, and hiring processes.
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure effective recruitment and onboarding strategies.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
- Ensure all pre-employment requirements are completed in accordance with organizational standards in partnership with the HR Representative.
Leave Administration and Benefits Support
- Serve as a resource for teammates regarding leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, parental leave, and other protected leaves.
- Partner with HR Representative and the Head of HR to ensure proper leave administration.
- Assist teammates with benefits-related questions and enrollment support.
- Educate managers regarding leave-related responsibilities and compliance requirements.
Performance Management and Talent Development
- Support annual performance review processes and talent management initiatives.
- Coach managers on performance management best practices.
- Assist with succession planning and employee development efforts.
- Identify training opportunities that support teammate growth and organizational objectives.
Compliance and HR Operations
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Assist with policy implementation and employee communications.
- Support audits, reporting, and compliance-related activities.
- Monitor trends and provide recommendations to improve HR processes and employee experience.
Employee Engagement and Culture
- Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and culture-building activities.
- Facilitate communication between leadership and teammates.
- Participate in employee meetings and facility leadership meetings as appropriate.
- Assist in developing and implementing programs that enhance retention and engagement.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience required.
- Experience supporting multiple locations preferred.
- Healthcare, ambulatory surgery center, hospital, or clinical environment experience strongly preferred.
- Experience handling employee relations investigations required.
- Experience supporting leave administration and performance management processes preferred.
Certifications
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

Working Conditions
This position routinely works onsite within assigned Ambulatory Surgery Centers and requires regular travel between facilities. The role may occasionally require flexibility in scheduling to support operational and employee needs.
