Position Title: 2nd Shift Quality Technician
Department: Quality
Reporting to: Quality Engineer
Job Summary
The responsibility of the Quality Technician is to ensure the quality of parts during his/her shift. Support the team lead in all quality related issues. He or She will be responsible for managing Quality Inspectors. They will perform the assigned tasks according to the direction of the supervisor. The Quality Technician will report to the Quality Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform all SPC checks in accordance with quality standards
· Document and report all improvements during his/her shift
· Inform team lead and quality department about quality discrepancies
· Verify production folders are up to date and training records are current
· Work with the team lead on borderline quality decisions
· Remove and contain all products and materials that fail to meet specifications
· Communicate quality problems and provide a pass down report for other shifts.
· Perform checks of production with the focus on:
1. Part quality in the work area
2. Operator compliance with all standard work
3. Random parts and packaging checks
4. Set-up of the workplace according to standards
5. Usage of workplace tools/gauges
6. Ensure Non-Conforming Material is properly identified
· Support the implementation and continual improvement of the defined 5s standard
· Adhere to all safety guidelines outlined by OSHA and Nifco KTW
· Assist in the training of new employees
· Assist paint, assembly, and injection molding departments in troubleshooting and identifying defects, as well as the implementation of solutions.
· Participate in problem solving activities with the use of A3 and 8D tools.
· Measure product whether it be an assembly or single component
· Accurately complete appropriate paperwork and/or enter computer
· Continuous participation in improvement of processes and procedures
· Work with the team lead about quality discrepancies
· Independent recognition of flaw features as well as actively contributing to detecting defects. Forwards suggestions for improvement to the shift supervisor.
· Immediately informs the shift supervisor about detected quality issues and malfunctions within work area.
· Conscientious handling of the provided tools
· Fill in for Quality Inspector on an as needed basis
· Comply with all regulations regarding workplace safety and accident prevention in everyday operations as well as informing the supervisor if deviations are detected during the shift.
· Participate in production board reviews and update metrics accordingly
Other Main Duties:
· Ensure documents are updated and maintained within his/her shift
· Report any deviations to the team lead and quality supervisor
· Behave in a positive manner that enhances the success of the company
· Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area
· Contributes continuously to improve processes, procedures, operational figures, and informs the supervisor about suggestions for improvements.
· Responsible for approval/disapproval of quality inspector vacation.
· Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor
