Senior Operations Manager

Job Description

Summary:  Oversee, manage, and supervise company’s transportation operation ensuring service meets or exceeds clients’ (FedEx Ground) expectation.  Supervise managers and all drivers for the assigned terminal.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Promote sustainable behavior change focused on safe practices
• Manage the day to day company operations for one designated terminal
• Proficient in DRO, Ground Cloud, and payroll software systems
• Monitor and manage operational costs  
• Establish productivity goals 
• Implement and enforce employee handbook and company’s policies and procedures • Knowledge and understanding of contractual obligations and expectations
• Document performance issues, safety issues, etc.
• Able to anticipate personnel needs and schedule accordingly
• Train managers to serve as back-up
• Create and maintain work schedules for all drivers 
• Interview driver candidates
• Serve as point of contact for all personnel issues/questions
• Serve as replacement/overflow driver when critical
• Serve as backup to other managers when needed  
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.  
• Communicate with supervisor all significant issues, recommendations, and decisions
• Comply with government rules and regulations related to transportation, labor issues, safety requirements, and environment issue.  

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

• Make personnel decisions regarding compensation, promotions, discipline, and termination of subordinates in accordance with company policies
• Conduct performance reviews in timely manner  

Qualifications and Education Requirements: Minimum of 6 months FedEx Ground driving experience; able to multi-task; solid time management skills; goal oriented; adaptable to change; excellent communication skills; high ethical standards; good interpersonal skills; ability to make decisions; excellent organization skills.  

Preferred Skills:  Supervisory experience

ADA Requirements:  Able to push, pull, and/or lift 150 pounds; stoop, reach, stand, walk, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and see   

Environmental Hazards: Exposure to loud noises and fumes/vapors/odors
