Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Meteorologist role based at KSLA News 12 in Shreveport, LA. The Meteorologist will prepare and deliver accurate, engaging daily weather forecasts for television newscasts, digital platforms, and social media. Responsibilities include analyzing meteorological data, operating weather graphics systems, and providing clear, timely coverage during severe weather events. The role involves collaborating with news producers and reporters to integrate weather information into newscasts and special coverage. The Meteorologist is also expected to participate in community outreach, represent the station at local events, and maintain an active, professional presence across digital and social channels.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in weather analysis, forecasting, and interpretation of meteorological data, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to a broad audience.
- Experience using broadcast weather graphics systems, radar tools, and related software to create compelling on-air and digital weather presentations.
- Excellent on-air presentation skills, including confident delivery, clear diction, and the ability to remain calm and accurate during breaking and severe weather coverage.
- Proficiency in digital and social media communication, including posting timely updates, engaging viewers online, and adapting content for multiple platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related field; professional certifications (such as NWA or AMS seals) are preferred.
