Role Description The Interior Designer II is a full-time, on-site role based in Glen Allen, VA, responsible for contributing to the design and delivery of interior environments across a range of project types. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing space plans, producing interior design concepts, and preparing construction drawings and documentation in coordination with project managers and architects. The role involves selecting and coordinating FF&E, finishes, and materials that align with project goals, performance requirements, and client budgets. The Interior Designer II will participate in client meetings, gather programmatic requirements, and translate stakeholder input into thoughtful, human-centered design solutions. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with the broader project team, supporting design presentations, ensuring adherence to codes and standards, and assisting with coordination during construction and implementation.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Interior Design and Space Planning, with the ability to develop functional, flexible, and user-centered layouts.
- Understanding of Architecture and coordination with architectural teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing Construction Drawings and documentation for interiors projects.
- Experience with FF&E selection, specification, and coordination, including finishes and materials.
- Proficiency in relevant design and documentation software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite) is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, and industry standards, with experience in government or institutional projects a plus.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in an on-site team environment.
