Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
- Set up CNC lathes, mills, and/or multi-axis machining centers according to setup sheets, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices for each job.
- Load programs into machine controls and verify correct operation.
- Perform first-piece inspections and make offset adjustments as needed to achieve specifications.
- Operate CNC machines to produce parts to print, maintaining dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.) to verify part quality.
- Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, taking corrective action promptly.
- Complete all required documentation, including inspection reports, job travelers, and production logs.
- Perform basic machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of materials and tools.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area in accordance with 5S principles.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve issues and optimize processes.
- Suggest improvements to reduce setup time, increase throughput, and improve product quality.
- Participate in training and cross-training to expand machining capabilities.
