Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment. The role combines preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical repair, and continuous improvement to minimize downtime and support high‑volume manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, climbing stairs or ramps, and operating equipment. Tasks may also involve pushing, pulling, carrying, and fine or gross motor manipulation. Visual and auditory abilities required include near and far vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to hear and understand speech. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance on equipment.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures using schematics, meters, PLC indicators, and operator feedback.
- Repair or replace motors, bearings, belts, chains, rollers, cylinders, valves, sensors, and other components to restore safe operation.
- Respond to breakdowns, assist with machine setups, and ensure equipment is running to required specifications during shifts.
- Recommend process or equipment improvements, participate in root‑cause analysis, and support reliability initiatives.
- Work closely with operators, supervisors, and engineering to resolve issues and improve equipment performance.
- Strictly abide by lockout tagout policies and machine guards.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
- Communicate effectively using radio equipment while adhering to proper radio etiquette.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate Degree Preferred
- Prior experience in the paper or corrugated packaging industry preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude to understand gears, bearings, belts, chains, rollers, and mechanical assemblies.
- Basic understanding of motors, sensors, relays, and control circuits to perform electrical troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Competence with calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and alignment tools.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and OEM manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Understanding of equipment design, capabilities, product layouts, and production specifications that can be translated into efficient operation.
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and quality standards.
- Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
