Job Summary
We are seeking energetic and dedicated Drop Bury Crews to join our team to support fiber optic deployment projects across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. In this role, you will be responsible for safely installing, burying, and maintaining fiber optic cables as part of our telecommunication infrastructure expansion. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, utilize heavy equipment, and contribute to critical IT infrastructure development in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, trenchers, and bucket trucks to dig trenches and install underground fiber cables.
- Bury fiber optic cables accurately according to schematics and project specifications while adhering to safety standards.
- Use hand tools and power tools to prepare trenches, install conduit, and secure cable pathways.
- Perform fiber splicing and testing to ensure optimal network performance and connectivity.
- Follow telecommunication industry standards for cabling, low voltage wiring, and network infrastructure installation.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams related to underground cabling projects.
- Climb poles or structures safely when necessary for cable installation or maintenance tasks.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including installation logs, safety checks, and project documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in field service roles involving heavy equipment operation and construction activities.
- Knowledge of telecommunication systems including fiber splicing, cabling, LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet, WAN (Wide Area Network), and telephony infrastructure.
- Ability to operate bucket trucks, power tools, hand tools, and electrical equipment safely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with schematics, electrical wiring standards, low voltage systems, and network infrastructure components.
- Strong climbing skills with a focus on safety when working on poles or elevated structures.
- Experience working in outdoor construction environments across diverse weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot network issues related to fiber optics or electrical systems.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred; CDL certification is a plus.
