Engineering Technician - R&D / Laboratory Systems

Hands-On Laboratory / Engineering Technician – Onsite

Seeking a hands-on technician to support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of prototype laboratory systems in an R&D environment. The role will work closely with engineers, scientists, and senior technicians on electrical and mechanical assemblies, vacuum and gas-handling systems, and

cryogenic equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble and configure prototype electrical and mechanical systems.
• Set up vacuum and gas-handling systems using CF, KF, NPT, and VCR fittings.
• Wire assemblies and build test cables.
• Operate and troubleshoot test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, temperature measurement equipment, vacuum pumps, and gauges.
• Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on compressors, scroll vacuum pumps, and turbomolecular pumps.
• Work with chilled water and liquefied gas systems while following strict safety procedures.
• Support engineers and scientists with testing, troubleshooting, and project deliverables.
• Maintain laboratory organization, documentation, and 5S standards.

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4–6 years of relevant hands-on technical experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with laboratory, vacuum, cryogenic, or test systems preferred.
• Ability to work independently and safely in a hands-on R&D environment.

Nice to Have:

• R&D laboratory experience.
• SOP/documentation development.
• LabVIEW and/or Python experience.
• Experience troubleshooting DR systems.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
