Kroloff, Belcher, Smart, Perry & Christopherson is a well-established Central Valley law firm founded in 1946. We are seeking an Associate to join our team in Stockton. The position is open to associates with 1-5 years of practice and recent law school graduates who will be taking the July 2026 bar exam. Recent graduates will join the firm as a Post-Bar Law Clerk and then transition to an Associate Attorney after passing the bar exam.
The associate will work directly with experienced attorneys across multiple practice groups and will be given meaningful responsibility from day one, with opportunities to develop a specialization over time.
This is a full-time, on-site role offering early independence, hands-on mentorship, and a clear path to advancement for associates who demonstrate initiative, strong judgment, and a commitment to excellent client service.
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on complex issues across practice areas, including employment law, business litigation, estate planning, trust and estate disputes, and transactional matters.
• Draft, propound, and respond to written discovery.
• Review and analyze documents produced in discovery.
• Draft motions, oppositions, and supporting briefs under supervising attorney oversight.
• Assist with deposition preparation and take or defend depositions as experience develops.
• Attend and participate in client meetings, mediations, depositions, and court hearings.
• Manage case deadlines and assist with docket management.
• Draft transactional documents and estate planning instruments under attorney supervision.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff on assigned matters.
• Develop working knowledge across the firm’s practice areas with an opportunity for specialization over time.
• Participate in continuing education and networking opportunities to develop your professional reputation and career.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar or plans to sit for the July 2026 bar exam.
• Superior legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a client-centered approach, including the ability to listen carefully, build trust, and distill complex legal issues into straightforward, actionable guidance.
• Professional judgment, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
• A collaborative approach and genuine interest in building a long-term career in a full-service firm.

• Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000 salary base, depending on experience.
• Bonus eligibility if minimum billable hours requirements are exceeded.
