Network Engineer

About the Role

We’re seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure with a strong focus on security and compliance. This role supports Kroger’s large-scale, hybrid environment (campus, data center, WAN/SD-WAN, and cloud) and partners with Security and Cloud teams to ensure resilient, secure connectivity.

What You’ll Do

• Deploy and maintain network solutions across LAN/WAN, 5G, and cloud environments (Azure/GCP).
• Implement security controls: firewall rule sets, segmentation, DMZ patterns, and secure egress/ingress per Kroger policy.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network performance; perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with device certification and configuration standards before production connectivity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on migrations, upgrades, and security audits.
• Document and improve operational processes, runbooks, and change workflows.
• Demonstrate Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

• Routing & Switching: Cisco, Arista, protocols (BGP, OSPF/EIGRP)
• Firewalls: Palo Alto, Check Point; DMZ configurations
• Load Balancers: F5, DNS (BlueCat/Anycast)
• Zero-Trust: Zscaler
• Automation: Terraform, Ansible, Python
• Monitoring & Logging: NetFlow/sFlow, Zabbix, Dynatrace, Google SecOps

Minimum Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in enterprise network engineering (design, implementation, troubleshooting).
• Hands-on experience with network security (firewalls, segmentation, DMZ).
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud networking and automation tools.
• Strong understanding of change control and compliance processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: CCNA/CCNP, PCNSE,
• Experience with SD-WAN deployments and firewall migrations.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scripting for automation.
