Position Summary:
Responsible for directing, scheduling and controlling all plant engineering/maintenance functions in order to obtain optimum efficiencies from the equipment, utilities and overall functions. Prioritize the distribution centers (DC's) needs, develop and implement a 3-year capital plan. Include capital appropriation requests, develop project schedules and work teams, write contracts, coordinate project activities, control project funds and implement startup/training procedures as necessary. - Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Facilitative coaching style of management and pursues non-directed activities in dealing with plant opportunities.
- 5-10 years of related experience in the food industry dealing with: project management, preventative maintenance administration, guiding a maintenance workforce, establishing and operating to a budget, utility utilization, EPA and OSHA requirements, knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), writing and justification of projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs with advanced skills in Excel.
- Experience using AutoCad.
- Provide engineering counsel and leadership at the DC level.
- Evaluate and develop engineering projects for the facility.
- Recommend equipment/processing system modifications and/or replacement to improve facility performance.
- Keep current on technology as it pertains to the facility's operation.
- Prepare and submit engineering reports as necessary.
- Establish and administer an effective predictive/preventative maintenance program, work order procedures and an adequate parts inventory.
- Train maintenance/engineering associates and determine appropriate training and development needs.
- Develop and oversee department budget.
- Create and maintain appropriate engineering records, including equipment records and manuals, drawings and diagrams, inspection reports and legal records as required by law.
- Monitor and control energy consumption and execute plans which promote effective energy usage.
- Partner with outside agencies, such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), etc., to insure plant compliance with current regulations.
