Position Summary
Kroeger Marine Construction is seeking a skilled Welding Technician II to join our fabrication team. This position is responsible for welding, fabricating, cutting, and assembling aluminum and metal structures used in marine and waterfront construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong welding knowledge, can read blueprints, operates safely, and takes pride in producing quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding and cutting equipment
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
- Fabricate and assemble aluminum and metal structures
- Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
- Prepare material surfaces and align workpieces for welding
- Select proper materials, welding methods, torches, filler rods, and equipment
- Operate hand tools and power tools used in welding and fabrication
- Grind, cut, buff, and finish welds as needed
- Inspect workpieces for defects and quality standards
- Mark materials and components accurately for production tracking
- Maintain safe work habits and proper use of PPE and safety equipment
- Report faulty tools or equipment to leadership promptly
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of welding or fabrication experience preferred
- Experience welding aluminum required
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and lull equipment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
- Strong understanding of welding methods, materials, and fabrication processes
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Intermediate to advanced welding and fabrication skills
- Strong attention to quality and workmanship
- Ability to troubleshoot welding and equipment issues
- Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards
- Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally in a team environment
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion throughout shift
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly
- Exposure to noise, heat, chemicals, sparks, and manufacturing equipment
- Indoor and outdoor work in varying environmental conditions
- Required use of PPE and welding safety equipment
- Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding as needed
