Position Summary
The Outdoor Guide is a member of the R&R Team and is responsible for leading activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, hiking, and walking.
This role is responsible for delivering safe, structured, and engaging outdoor experiences for guests at Kripalu. The Outdoor Guide supports a culture of inclusivity, respect, and continuous learning, while maintaining a high standard of guest service.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong interpersonal and customer service skills and is able to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Candidates should be comfortable facilitating outdoor activities and responding appropriately in dynamic or high-pressure situations, including emergencies.
Additional Requirement:
Due to the essential functions of this role, including water-based activities, candidates must be able to swim proficiently and respond effectively in the event of a capsized watercraft.
SCHEDULE
This is a part-time, seasonal position scheduled to work approximately 2–10 hours per week, based on business needs.
This role is classified as a seasonal position with an anticipated duration of approximately six (6) months. Employment is temporary in nature and does not guarantee ongoing or year-round employment.

Leads groups and individuals with varying degrees of ability.

Helps to create a mindful, meditative outdoor experience for guests.

Available and participates in faculty meetings and trainings

Responsible for the inventory and general maintenance of outdoor equipment: load, unload, manage and care for equipment and gear.

Minimal Qualifications
-
A minimum of two (2) years of experience leading outdoor activities and/or fitness programs.

Proficiency in swimming.

Ability to hike for several hours per day on uneven terrain, covering a minimum of four (4) miles per day in various weather conditions, maintaining a pace that allows activities to be completed within scheduled timeframes (typically three miles in 90 minutes).

Capability to work safely and effectively in all weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and prolonged sun exposure.

Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds to assist with equipment and watercraft transport.

Physical and mental fitness to respond promptly to changing circumstances, prioritizing guest safety and experience.

Current or willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications.
