Night Shift Embroidery Machine Operator / Textile Production Technician
Location: Pipersville, Bucks County, PA
Schedule: Full-time, approximately 12:00 a.m.–8:00 a.m., five nights per week
Compensation: $24–$28/hour, depending on experience
Anticipated Start Date: Approximately December 1, 2026
Position: W-2 employee, paid training
A private professional studio for an internationally exhibited contemporary artist is seeking an exceptionally reliable, precise, and detail-oriented person to join the studio as an Overnight Embroidery Machine Operator / Textile Production Technician.
The primary responsibility of this position is keeping multiple single-head commercial Tajima embroidery machines running efficiently throughout the overnight shift. During periods when the machines are running independently and do not require immediate attention, the operator will also perform finishing work on completed embroideries using the studio’s established burnout process.
Keeping the embroidery machines running is always the first priority. Burnout and finishing work is completed between machine interventions, bobbin changes, thread breaks, and other production needs.
This is not a traditional artist-assistant position, and an art degree or previous experience working in the arts is not required. We are primarily looking for someone who is extremely dependable, careful, patient, mechanically comfortable, and highly attentive to detail.
The artworks produced in the studio are large, complex, original works, and small errors in machine operation, registration, or finishing can affect many hours of production. The ideal candidate naturally works carefully, notices when something looks slightly off, follows established procedures precisely, and does not cut corners.
Primary Responsibility: Embroidery Production
The studio produces large-scale textile artworks using professional Tajima embroidery equipment. The overnight operator’s primary responsibility is to maximize safe, consistent machine runtime throughout the shift.
Responsibilities include:
- Operating and monitoring multiple professional Tajima embroidery machines during extended production runs.
- Preparing machine interfacing, loading prepared embroidery files and following detailed production instructions for each artwork.
- Threading machines, replacing bobbins, responding to thread breaks, restarting machines, and handling routine operating issues.
- Carefully monitoring stitch quality, frame registration, tension, fabric movement, thread performance, and other potential problems.
- Regularly checking machines during long uninterrupted runs rather than assuming everything is operating correctly.
- Loading, positioning, advancing, and removing large textile works as individual sections are completed.
- Recognizing when something is wrong and stopping the machine rather than risking damage to an artwork.
- Performing routine cleaning, oiling, and basic preventative maintenance.
