Position Summary:
At Kriete Truck Centers, our Painters play a crucial role in restoring the professional appearance and integrity of our customers’ heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Specializing in refinishing and surface restoration, our Painters prepare, paint, and finish trucks to meet manufacturer specifications and high customer expectations. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical skills, and a commitment to safety and quality in a fast-paced work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by removing rust, grease, dirt, and old coatings using abrasives, solvents, or sandblasting.
- Mask and protect parts not being painted, including windows, chrome, and mirrors.
- Mix and match paint according to specifications, ensuring color accuracy.
- Apply primers, basecoats, and finish coatings using spray guns or brushes as required.
- Sand vehicle surfaces between coats to remove flaws and enhance adhesion.
- Inspect painted units for quality, addressing any runs, streaks, or unpainted areas.
- Maintain and clean painting equipment, including spray guns and power tools.
- Complete cab prep and disassemble or reassemble components as needed for paint.
- Work collaboratively with Body Shop Technicians to ensure seamless, efficient repairs and refinishing.
- Properly dispose of hazardous materials and comply with all safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Participate in training programs as directed and stay up to date with industry advancements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in automotive or commercial vehicle painting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finishes.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with both manual and power tools.
- Ability to read and follow repair orders and technical specifications.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring standing, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
- Forklift operation experience is a plus but not required.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all regulatory guidelines.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary training in auto body painting or refinishing preferred but not required.
- One year of automotive or commercial vehicle painting experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
- CDL is a plus, but not required
