Position Title: Merchandising Manager
Department: Sales
Position Reports to: VP, Sales and Marketing
Schedule: Full-time, 40–50 hours per week, with weekend communication as needed. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process.
Location: This role is primarily field-based within our retail accounts across the four counties we service, with minimal in-office time required.
Job Responsibilities
- Talent Management, Coaching & Team Development: Recruit, hire, and onboard high-performing Merchandisers who embody Krey’s culture and expectations. Provide clear standards, thorough training, and continuous coaching to build a highly capable team that executes with confidence and consistency. Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and pride in representing Krey Distributing — supported by open, honest, and frequent communication with your team.
- Leadership in Retail Execution (Hands-On & In the Field): Set, communicate, and reinforce all Krey merchandising standards — including rotation, full shelves, out-of-stocks, display execution, and overall retail presentation. Conduct regular in-store evaluations to coach and develop team members and ensure consistency across all accounts. This role is highly physical and hands-on; while the goal is to lead and develop — not to merchandise full-time — you will work alongside your team when needed, stepping into the trenches to build displays, move and pull pallets, support major initiatives, and lead by example.
- Operational Planning, Scheduling & Route Optimization: Design efficient weekly and seasonal schedules to ensure full coverage during peak sales periods, including weekends and holidays. Develop balanced daily and weekly route structures that support strong execution and manageable workloads. Step in as needed for coverage or high-volume events, modeling high standards while reinforcing that your primary responsibility is leadership and team development.
- Cross-Functional Alignment & Communication: Maintain continuous, proactive communication with your team, the sales team responsible for the accounts you support, your direct supervisor, and the company’s executive leadership, including the President/Owner. Serve as the central connection point between merchandising and sales to ensure priorities are aligned, execution expectations are clear, and all stakeholders have visibility into performance, challenges, and opportunities. Strong communication is essential to success in this role.
- Continuous Improvement & Issue Resolution: Identify execution gaps, develop solutions, and coach the team to drive consistent improvement. Address issues in the trade promptly and professionally to maintain a high-standard retail experience. Continuously seek opportunities to elevate Krey’s in-store presence through improved processes, stronger team capability, and creative, high-impact merchandising strategies.
- Other duties as assigned.
