POSITION SUMMARY:
The Customer Service Agent is responsible for supporting assigned service staff, cross-selling and upselling existing customers based on their needs, processing work by doing rating and/or data entry, making calls to customers or insurers, or by assisting in any other areas as required. The primary line of business is Property and Casualty, Personal Lines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Process policy documents, change requests and confirmations, cancellations, utilizing the
agency management system.
- Use insurer websites to obtain quotes, proposals, policy documents, and rating and for billing questions.
- Maintain customer and prospective customer files with discretion.
- Process payments; Process late-payment and cancellation notices, as well as payment-received notices into the agency management system.
- Follow the agency’s Policy and Procedures Manual
- Maintain working knowledge of insurers’ processes and requirements
- Report any issues in the execution of their tasks to the supervisor.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Able to work independently and carry out assignments with minimal supervision.
- May be expected to attend industry-specific seminars and training, as needed.
- Is expected to provide excellent customer service if/when interacting with customers directly, including when answering phones.
- Other duties, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Perform duties by complying with agency’s established procedures as well as direction from supervisor.
- Good working knowledge of computer office software. Knowledge of Epic Agency Management System a Plus.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma or GED.
Experience: Insurance experience required.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge or Licensure: Licensed Property & Casualty insurance producer.
Continuing Education/Training: as required by applicable statutes and regulations.
