Job Summary
The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that products meet standards set by Kreher’s Farm Fresh Eggs, Eggland’s Best and regulatory authorities. The QA Supervisor, working with the Sr. Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, will ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices including SQF, GMP and HACCP. The QA Supervisor will assist in conducting internal audits, train other employees on QA policies and practices and oversee various facets of egg processing. This position will assist the Sr. Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance and work directly on the processing floor with the Processing Supervisor, Shipping/Receiving Supervisor and others as part of the operations team.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the training of Food Safety and Food Quality Fundamentals locally
- Oversee implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF system locally
- Assist in the validation of and changes to the Food Safety Fundamentals, Food Safety and Food Quality Plans
- Ensure adherence to Eggland’s Best requirements
- Complete and oversee paperwork that details various customer requirements
- Verify of the following locally:
- Pre-requisite Programs
- Food Safety and Quality limits (HACCP) plans
- Monitor activities for:
- Control Points
- Quality Points
- Egg Grading done by USDA
- Egg Quality
- Eggland’s Best products and supplies
- Ovotrack – our track and trace program
- Sampling and /or Inspection:
- Raw Materials
- Finished product
- Conducting internal audits under the direction of the Senior Manager of Safety and Quality Assurance (company SQF Practitioner)
- Assist the Sr. Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance with audits such as FDA, EB, Sysco, etc.
- Assist with tracking packaging quality issues.
- Assist with egg quality issues and communicate with USDA inspector.
- Conduct monthly thermometer calibrations.
- Conduct water sampling and testing as needed
- Monitor egg weight parameters to ensure carton and eggs match up.
- Conduct monthly lab testing (Haugh units) on eggs from each house and incoming eggs; notify Sr Manager of QA & FS of any problems.
- Maintain excellent communication with Sr Manager, team members, and USDA.
- Performs other duties as required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The QA Supervisor must be knowledgeable about all food safety standards that are customary within the food industry and mandated by government regulations including:
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
- Standards set by the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI).
The QA Supervisor must also have the following skills and abilities:

- Ability to influence the behavior of others (who may/may not be direct reports)

- Ability to travel occasionally to training/seminars and to attend professional organization meetings
Education and Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Quality Assurance in a food processing plant
- Experience conducting audits, and working with auditors
