Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and health status, reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Implement care plans as directed, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Support clients in community integration activities and promote social interactions.
- Assist with medication administration as required by care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents through regular cleaning and organization of living spaces.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and emotional well-being, including memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving roles such as home health aide, nursing home staff, or hospice care preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and vital sign monitoring.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed (e.g., assisting clients with mobility using Hoyer lifts).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- A compassionate approach towards caregiving, demonstrating patience and empathy towards residents' needs.
