We are seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Manager to lead the administration, negotiation, and compliance with complex government contracts. This role is critical in ensuring adherence to federal regulations while supporting program execution and business objectives. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in U.S. government contracting, strong business acumen, and the ability to partner cross-functionally in a fast-paced defense environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of government contracts, including proposal support, negotiation, award, administration, and closeout
- Interpret and ensure compliance with federal regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and other agency-specific requirements
- Serve as a trusted advisor to program managers, finance, legal, and executive leadership on contractual matters
- Analyze solicitations (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs) and develop compliant and competitive responses
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, NDAs, teaming agreements, and modifications
- Identify and mitigate contractual risks; develop strategies to protect company interests
- Manage contract changes, claims, and disputes in coordination with legal counsel
- Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and audit readiness (e.g., DCMA/DCAA audits)
- Mentor junior contracts staff and contribute to process improvements and best practices
- Support business development efforts, including capture strategy and proposal reviews
Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field (Master’s or JD preferred)
- 10 years of progressive experience in government contracting, preferably within the defense industry
- Deep knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and federal acquisition processes
- OTA experience
- Proven experience negotiating complex contracts and subcontracts
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines
- Experience supporting DoD or other federal agencies preferred
- Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one
- Experience with cost-reimbursable, fixed-price, and T&M contract types
- Familiarity with export compliance (ITAR/EAR)
- Knowledgeable in trade compliance
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities
