- Leads requirements analysis to elicit, document, and manage the functional and non-functional requirements of systems
- Researches and defines integration strategies for design
- Designs, develops, and maintains the system architecture, providing a blueprint for the components and their interactions
- Applies system modeling techniques to visualize and analyze the structure and behavior of the simulation
- Performs functional analysis to decompose high-level requirements into detailed functions and allocate them to system elements
- Identifies and assesses potential risks associated with development, and integration, and proposes mitigation strategies.
- Defines the system and its integration, including interfaces with control systems models or data
- Oversight for responsibilities of test planning and defining scope for verification and validation of the integrated simulation system against requirements
- Creates and communicates system architectures, integration plans, and interface definitions for various designs and related systems
- Identifies integration requirements, data exchange needs, and works with discipline engineers to define compatible solutions
- Serves as a technical lead to ensure coordination of systems and provides guidance to other technical team members
- Liaison with leadership, customer counterparts, process engineers, discipline engineers, and software developers to resolve questions with interpretation or execution of the design throughout its lifecycle
- Monitors the development and integration progress against the system architecture to identify inconsistencies and coordinates with the team to create effective solutions
- Identifies key performance indicators (KPIs) and develops and maintains metrics to assess effectiveness of the system architecture and the team’s execution thereof
- Interacts with leadership, verbally and through presentations, on the system's architecture, integration, and progress
- May develop proposal content used for new business capture
- Participates in the identification of root causes of system-level issues and develops effective corrective actions
- Experienced in the design, development, and testing of training systems under US Department of War regulations, standards, and acquisition framework methods
- Understands relevant industry standards and best practices in relation to system design, integration, and verification
- Interprets and defines system architectures, interface control documents, requirements specifications, and system models
- Proficiency with requirements analysis principles, methodologies, and management tools
- Experienced with system architecture development, documentation, and model-based systems engineering / Model Based Engineering or Design (MBSE/MBD)
- Experienced with risk management processes
- Understands control systems principles.
- Strong computer skills and experience with standard office software.
- BS degree in Engineering (e.g., Systems, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or a relevant technical field (significant work experience in systems engineering may be substituted for education).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a combination of systems engineering and a related technical domain (e.g., simulation, process control, or the energy industry).
- INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP)
- Experience with naval or industrial power plants
- Proficiency with Jama requirements management software
- Experience with any combination of: Building Information Models (BIM), AutoDesk Revit, Deltek CostPoint, SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, TipQA
- Knowledge and/or experience with relevant quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001)
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data analysis or automation
- Experience in test planning and execution for complex systems
