What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trust and Estates Paralegal position at Kramer Radin LLP?
We are a well-established but still growing boutique estate planning and trust administration practice in Los Altos looking to add to our team of dedicated staff, with an opening for an on-site experienced full-time Trust/Estate Administration paralegal who is well versed in all aspects of trust/estate administration. We are seeking an individual who is motivated, a self-starter, detail oriented, a team player and projects a positive attitude. In a collegial relaxed work environment, our paralegals work closely with attorneys, clients, professional fiduciaries and other support staff and must be able to manage multiple styles and deadlines.
Ideal candidates will have experience with all aspects of the trust and estate administration process, including the following :
- Marshalling, organizing, and analyzing asset information
- Assisting with appraisals and valuation of assets
- Complex administration to include asset allocation strategies and subtrust funding
- Preparation of inventories, asset allocation agreements, and asset transfer documents
- Preparation and filing of court pleadings, Judicial Council forms, Probate petitions, Spousal Property petitions, Heggstad petitions, Trust Reformation and/or Modification Petitions, etc.
- Managing court filing of pleadings, eFilings, discovery and service of documents
- Researching and drafting grant deeds, quitclaim deeds, trust transfer deeds, and supporting real property transfer documents
- Preparation of fiduciary reports and accountings
- Review and preparation of Estate and Gift Tax returns
- Creation and maintenance of physical and electronic client files
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of direct experience in trust/estate administration
- Ability to disseminate information from bank, brokerage, and other financial statements
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, financial institutions, government agencies and attorneys
- Familiarity with local court rules and procedures
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and take direction from attorneys
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, manage large caseload in a consistent and timely manner, and track and meet deadlines
- Ability to track and report billable hours in a timely manner and meet billable hour expectations
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Publisher
- Experience using PCLaw or other legal billing software is advantageous
- Paralegal Certification from an ABA approved program required
- Notary Public a plus!
Pay: $85,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
